Name of Activity: School Plus Jobs (SPJ)

Description of Activity: Funded by the City of Tucson, Sunnyside, Tucson Unified and Amphi School Districts, SPJ employs 40 eligible students at each of seven high schools: Sunnyside, Desert View, Tucson, Pueblo, Cholla, Santa Rita, and Amphi. Students work primarily at on campus worksites for 8 hours/week and attend a mandatory career/college workshop weekly while earning minimum wage. A site coordinator monitors students' grades and attendance. Mentoring and tutoring are provided.

Name of Activity: Inschool Work Experience

Description of Activity: Eligible rural and urban youths ages 14-21 are placed in positions at non-profits, governmental and educational facilities for a total of 160 hours. Workplace skills and school attendance are monitored for successful completion.

Name of Activity: Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

Description of Activity: Rural and urban youths ages 14-21 are placed in positions at non-profits, governmental and educational facilities or at in-class programs for seven weeks working for 30 hours/week at minimum wage. Pre-tests are administered for appropriate remedial or work experience placement. Counseling sessions include workplace skill attainment.

Name of Activity: ACE Charter High School

Description of Activity: ACE Charter High School is an NCA accredited alternative high school, grades 9-12. The curriculum is computerized, open-entry, open-exit, self-paced and meets State standards. Dropout prevention and transition counseling services are provided. College scholarships are available to seniors. Ratio 1:15
