Description of Activity: Student go on the internet to access The Occupational Outlook Handbook. Students learn career information, about the job, the training requirements, employment trends, and earnings. Students can make an informed decision for their future work.

Name of Activity: Pima Community College Upward Bound Program
Description: Presidio School students will receive academic support as well as have the opportunity to earn dual enrollment credit through Pima Community College (PCC) Downtown Campus. The program is aimed at first-generation college students. A college-access program, Upward Bound provides students with tutoring, advising, and mentoring from both college faculty and/or students, preparation for college entrance exams such as SAT, ACT, and the AIMS. Presidio students will receive assistance in completing college applications, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), financial aid process, career exploration, interest inventories, job shadowing, and parent college information workshops.

Name of Activity: Joint Technological Education District
Description: JTED provides career and technical education programs that target both the educational and employment needs of Pima County. Students receive innovative training and the JTED classes are approved by the Arizona Department of Education for dual credit at the high school and college level.

Description of Activity: Representatives from colleges, universitites, vocational-technical schools, apprenticeship programs, military, and local employers come to Presidio School to for the entire morning. Students are provided an opportunity to meet with each visiting post-secondary school representative.

Name of Activity: Career Internships
Description of Activity: Career Internships engages students in a meaningful work based learning experience for which the walls of the classroom includes the whole community, giving students real world of work experiences. Combining work based learning and school based learning into an established school curricula. Students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning (academic concepts and foundation skills) to establish a clear connection between education and work.

Name of Activity: PCC Summer Career Academies Program
Description of Activity: Students learn about the PCC Summer Career Academies and its occupational classes. Students complete an application and attend a PCC Orientation. Once the student is accepted into PCC Career Academies Programs, they will learn about a career, meet with professional in a career field, and attend field trips visiting with local employers. Students earn college and high school (elective) credits while exploring their chosen career and the world of work.

Description of Activity: Students learn about the Pima County One-Stop Center and can complete an application to apply. The program offers work experience training and provides on-the-job training, job shadowing, customized training, volunteer workers, paid/unpaid internships, apprenticeship, and vocational training.

Description of Activity: The student learns about the Pima County Summer Youth Internship Program; including completing an application. If chosen by Pima County the student participates in 16 hours of Employability Skills training and Work Experience. The students are placed by this program to work at a Pima County site.
