Our students will learn how to successfully grow, harvest, & prepare Indigenous foods. We will harvest the power of the Sun, Wind, and Water by designing sustainable earthworks that harness these natural energies. In the process of establishing these relationships, which seek like, our students will learn how to become better caretakers of the surrounding ecosystems we inhabit.d

Name of Activity: Indigenous Youth Day
Description:
This event is held on what's traditionally celebrated as "Columbus Day." The purpose of Indigenous Youth Day is to celebrate the survival of Indigenous Peoples & Cultures. Traditional dances, songs, and crafts from various Indigenous communities are shared with our students.

Description:
The Leadership Club helps fundraise for school wide & school district events. Students in the leadership club help organize our annual Prom Dance, Valentine's Day, Spirit Week, and other events. Our Leaderhsip Club meets on a need basis throughout the year.

Name of Activity: Hiaki Language Classes
Description: Students are taught the basics of the Hiaki Langauge. In total we offer four courses every semester, a beginner class, and an advanced class.

Name of Activity: Hiaki Studies
Description: Students are required to take Hiaki Studies 1 (an introductory course) & Hiaki Studies 2 (an advanced course) in order to earn a high school diploma from our school. In these classes our students learn the history of the Hiaki people from pre-Colombian times up to the present day. Hiaki Studies 2 students are given an opportunity to visit Rio Yaqui in Mexico every year, in an organized learning expedition.

Name of Activity: Yoeme Youth Conference
Description:
An annual youth conference that is open to the entire New Pascua Hiaki community. Students develop workshops that they present to the community. Workshops are created in relation to the theme that they decide upon for that particular year. This is a really good opportunity for our students to develop leadership, professional, & academic skills.
