UA Foundation Scholarships
Description: The UA Foundation Office of Scholarship Development works with private donors to raise money for various scholarships which are designed to provide access to college, bring the best and brightest minds to Arizona, energize the economy through internships and research, enhance our community through service learning, and train new generations of leaders with broad, global perspectives. Scholarships may be given in honor or in memory of an individual, colleague or family loved one. Scholarships can also be given in the name of an organization, foundation or corporation. The UA Foundation Office works closely with the UA Scholarship Office and various UA colleges/departments to coordinate the application and distribution of these private donor scholarships. UA Financial Aid Programs
Description: The UA Office of Student Financial Aid offers a variety of federal and state financial aid programs consisting of grants, scholarships and loans. The following are examples of grant programs:
ARIZONA ASSURANCE: A new need-based financial aid program to make the UA accessible to all qualified students. Called the Arizona Assurance, this program is aimed at supporting students most in need, and would assure them that they could attend the UA free from the burden of tuition and fees.
ACADEMIC COMPETITIVENESS GRANT (ACG): Awarded to US citizens in their first or second year in a postsecondary institution (you graduated after 2005) you are eligible for a Pell Grant and have completed a rigorous program of student, you may be eligible for this grant.
COLLEGE WORK STUDY: The Federal College Work Study Program allows students to defray part of their cost of education through work experience. Many job placements are career related, offering both valuable experience and income to the student. The recipient may work up to 30 hours per week in an on-campus or off-campus placement.
PELL GRANTS: The Federal Pell Grant Program is funded by the federal government in order to provide primary access for students for their undergraduate degrees. Eligibility is established by the federal government and students are funded appropriately to their dependency status, living accommodations, and enrollment.
NATIONAL SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS TO RETAIN TALENT (SMART): Awarded to US citizens, who are in their junior or senior year, eligible for a Pell Grant with minimum UA GAP of 3.0 and are enrolled in one of the majors specified by the grant. SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY GRANTS: The Federal SEOG Program is a direct grant to undergraduate students demonstrating exceptional financial need. Eligibility is determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
