On February 7, 2019 the Metropolitan Education Commission will present the 22nd Annual Key To Employment for the 21st Century (Key2e) Industry, Technology and Career Symposium. This premier event will connect over 500 So. AZ high school students, as well as teachers and counselors, to 21st Century careers and academic programs in trending Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). As you know, education and workforce development are top Arizona and the Tucson priorities.

Here is how you can help.

We are inviting Arizona technology companies, educators, researchers, and education and community organizations to sign-up as exhibitors and/or sponsors to invest in and inspire our future workforce.  This is the place to be to showcase your research, technology innovations, 21st Century careers, or education career pathways programs for evolving and highly technical careers of the 21st Century

You will join the ranks of previous sponsors such as IBM, Texas Instruments, Raytheon, The University of Arizona, the Tucson Airport Authority, the Bioindustry Organization of Southern Arizona, and many others.  Whether you can provide $500.00, or $5000.00, your commitment is important.

Key2e provides Southern Arizona high school students the opportunity to:

  • Meet college students, educators, engineers, University researchers, and other area professionals working at the cutting edge of science, technology and industry. They will demonstrate some of the latest and greatest technologies and engage the students in exploring some of the hottest and high-paying technology and 21st Century careers in our featured 21st Century industries
  • Discover how they can be a part of the next mission to Mars, create new energy sources, engineer tiny nano machines to fight diseases, design the next generation of the Internet and video games, develop new technologies to protect the environment, design and build our community, work to prevent and treat disease, and more.
  • Learn about the course of study, skills, and educational requirements that will prepare them for college and science, technology and 21st Century careers
  • Connect with colleges, trade schools and community organizations that provide opportunities for them to further their education and training

About The MEC

The MEC is a nonprofit organization. The 34 citizen Commissioners are appointed by the Tucson City Council and Pima County Board of Supervisors. They advise, make recommendations, and serve as an advocate in all areas as they affect the educational welfare of the citizens of Tucson and Pima County.  Established in October 1990 by Tucson Mayor & Council and Pima County Board of Supervisors Resolution, the MEC works on a continual basis under its Goal One: Graduate! or Meta Numero Uno: Graduar! initiative to increase the number of youth graduating from high school with good a education and the opportunity to access higher education.

* Crystal Apple Luncheon: The annual Crystal Apple Awards Luncheon is designed to honor individuals and organizations who contribute to educational excellence in our community. The award categories include Lifetime Achievement, Education Advocate, Teacher, Counselor, Youth and special awards as deemed appropriate. The list of honorees is indeed worthy of celebration each year.
